• Rehearsals: Wednesdays 7:00 to 8:30 PM

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an audition?

No, but the ability to sing a part is helpful. If you’re not sure which part you sing, we can help you find the part that best suits your voice!

What is the attendance requirement?

One of the goals of the choir is to foster the friendships that come with participation and to achieve the highest level of musical excellence that we can; therefore, we do encourage regular attendance. We understand that illness and travel can sometimes interfere.

Where are rehearsals held, and how long do they last?

We rehearse at Central Baptist Church in Binghamton on Wednesday evenings. Rehearsals run from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.

What is the choir calendar?

Our rehearsals are from early September through early December, with a Christmas concert. We resume in mid-January through April with a spring concert. A schedule will be provided at the beginning of each season.

Will I be able to practice at home with CD’s or online music?

At-home rehearsal aids will be provided as much as possible.

Will there be childcare?

No childcare is currently provided.

Is there a minimum age?

We encourage singers aged 14 years and older.

Do we have to belong to a church?

No, however that is always encouraged. Our membership currently represents 30 Southern Tier churches.

What is the concert dress?

Concert attire is all black - shirts and slacks for men, women wear dresses, skirts, or pants (please, no leggings or sleeveless shirts).

What is the cost to participate?

Members are asked to pay $25 per season to help purchase music and pay for rehearsal and performance-related expenses. However, we never want that to be a hindrance to participation.

Central Baptist Church is not underwriting our program. They are a host facility for us to rehearse and perform.

Do we have to stand all the time?

For a concert, accommodation will be made for those who cannot stand.

What type of music would we sing?

First and foremost, Christian/sacred. Programs have a variety of music styles.

Would we be asked to perform a solo?

If there is a solo within a choir number, auditions may be held at the discretion of the director.
